| TRiO | Prior to 1992, the Federal TRIO Programs were officially known as Special Programs for Students from Disadvantaged Backgrounds. The three original federal programs from which the "trio" programs derived their name were Upward Bound (1964) Talent Search (1965) and Student Support Services (1968).
